Mount Vernon School Field Trip Charter Bus Rentals

You're never limited to one route or one vehicle when your class heads to the Bronx! The Bronx Zoo (2300 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10460) and the New York Botanical Garden (2900 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10458) are two of the most popular field trip destinations for Mount Vernon schools — and they're just 5 to 7 miles away. One important routing note: New York's parkways, including the Bronx River Parkway and the Hutchinson River Parkway, prohibit full-size commercial vehicles.

Buses serving these destinations route via I-87 or surface roads like Route 1 and Southern Boulevard instead. For the zoo, use Southern Boulevard and 182nd Street as the bus destination; school groups meet at the Southern Boulevard entrance, and bus parking is in the Southern Boulevard parking lot at a $24 per bus cost, first come, first served — details are on the Bronx Zoo field trip FAQ. Your bus unloads at the Southern Boulevard entrance, then stays in the designated lot instead of hunting for a curb when class is ready to leave.

Charter buses drop off at the Bronx River Entrance to the zoo and at the Everett Garden Gate at NYBG — both require advance group reservations. At NYBG, that school-bus gate sits on Southern Boulevard across from Fordham University, handles pickup at the end of the visit, and does not allow bus parking inside the Garden; see the New York Botanical Garden school visit arrival instructions. We help you compare buses for every kind of field trip on the Westchester calendar — including the end-of-year favorites! Rye Playland (1 Playland Pkwy, Rye, NY 10580) is approximately 12 to 15 miles from Mount Vernon and has a dedicated bus parking area in its main lot, accessed via Playland Parkway. Kensico Dam Plaza (1 Bronx River Pkwy, Valhalla, NY 10595) is about 14 to 16 miles away and accommodates buses in its large parking area — a great stop for environmental education programs.

For both destinations, buses route via I-95 or Route 1 rather than the restricted parkways. Compare 15-passenger minibuses through 56-passenger motorcoaches for your Westchester field trip through Busrentalmountvernon.com — no account required!
